Padua Careers

It has been a busy term in careers with the ECAT event, subject selections and the opening up of VTAC for Year 12 students. Next term we will work more closely with Year 11 students to assist them with preparations for their future pathways.

Year 10

This week we have a group of Year 10 and 11 students going to visit HMAS Cerberus for a day to explore the facility and career opportunities.

Work Experience

Those students who are planning on doing Work Experience in December are reminded to return their completed Work Placement forms to the Careers Office before the end of this term.

Kwong Lee Dow Program – Melbourne University

Applications are now open for the Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars Program at Melbourne University. The program offers current Year 10 high-achieving students the opportunity to engage with the University through a series of events and activities at the Parkville campus. The University aims to select at least one student from every secondary school in Victoria to participate in the program.

Students will be selected based on:

* Academic performance: students should be top academic students in their year level.

* Leadership potential: students must demonstrate evidence of leadership, active citizenship and community and extracurricular involvement

Year 12

VTAC Information

Students are reminded to start their VTAC applications, add their preferences and complete SEAS now.

* VTAC applications are due by Monday 30 September (which is during the next school holidays) for timely applications – Cost is $39.  (Please pay as soon as possible, if you do not pay you will not receive an offer or an ATAR statement.)

* Submit up to 8 course preferences, these can be modified as many time as you like (right up until two days after results) Ensure there is a backup / pathways course on your list.

* Submit a SEAS application – All students are advised to make a SEAS application

The DUE date for this is Friday 11 October (which is the first Friday in Term 4), with all supporting statements.

Category 1: Personal information and location – all students must apply for this category

Category 2: Disadvantaged financial background – ( family tax benefits or Centrelink eligibility)

Category 3: Disability or medical condition

Category 4: Difficult circumstances

Casper

For students who are wanting to apply for Education /Teaching courses next year they are now required to sit the Casper Test prior to offers.
