SIS Athletics Championships – Padua Victorious!

Another wonderful day of Sport for Padua College!

In this term alone, we have seen our students competing in

* State Netball Championships… with 2 teams progressing to the next round

* Aerobics girls qualifying for and winning national titles in Queensland

* Football teams winning their respective SIS competitions and then progressing to win semi-finals of the HSS competitions… thereby qualifying for grand finals in Ballarat.

* A number of interhouse athletics trials and carnivals

* Other house competitions and SIS teams representing Padua College with pride.

And, to top it all off, on Tuesday 27 August we emerged as the SIS Athletics Champions for the 6th consecutive year!

Organising the Athletics team is always a big job with so many events with specific skills required. Then there’s the problem of students being unavailable or unwell… ahhhh!

Well, the students who attended were AMAZING! Across all the Padua campuses, many volunteered to compete in events beyond their area of expertise and year level and all with smiles on their faces!

There were many outstanding performances across the track and field events… too many to mention… but the absolute standout performance was by Aiden Hinson in the U/16 Triple Jump, who well and truly broke the SIS Record with a jump of 13.49m. Aiden is certainly one to watch in future events!

In the end, the final results were that Padua won:

* 9 of the 12 age group pennants

* The Girls Aggregate shield.

* The three major age group shields and the Aggregate Shield…..for the 6th straight year… or 7 in 8 years!
