Vice Principals Report

Congratulations to the 175 Year 10-12 students who participated in the College Athletics carnival. For some this was one of the remaining opportunities to partake in an event that allows them to support their senior house. Special mention to Georgia Mills (Year 11 John) who won the Girls Open 100m sprint in 13.28secs and Campbell Steedman (Year 12 Francis) who won the Graham Warr open 100m sprint in a time of 11.48secs. It would also be remiss of me not to mention the guest appearance of the yellow Telly-Tubby and a senior student performing in a red tutu. At the end of the day it was the Djeembana house who walked away with the title on the 10-12 campus. To Ms Johnson and her committed group of leaders in Grace Ronchi, Gabe Leon-Thomas and Georgie Brick a well-deserved win.

Congratulations also to the Year 10 and 12 students who competed in the victorious SIS Athletics Team and claiming the Overall Senior Shield. For our Year 12 students this was the final time that they were able to represent Padua in such an event and what a way to leave their mark.

The Senior Campus is now well entrenched in assessment mode with students competing unit 3 and 4 subjects approaching their final SAC and the SAT folios creating a nervous hive of activity around the school. For the folio based subjects, the culmination of a year’s work has seen students print, edit, Photoshop, construct, paint and annotate to the last minute in their search for excellence.  VCAA performance and oral exams will commence at the start of term 4, and these students will be showcasing their work to audiences in the coming weeks.

The 2020 School Captain process was formally launched this week with all Year 11 students being emailed the process including key dates and responsibilities within the role by Ms Goss. The College has been blessed once again this year to have four outstanding young people lead the College with such grace and integrity that they have laid the foundation for the 2020 leaders to continue to build on. The 2020 school captains will be announced at the College assembly on Monday October 21st as part of celebrating the graduation of the 2019 Year 12 cohort.

All students across the 10-12 Campus have been emailed critical information regarding the upcoming trial exam period (Unit 3 & 4 only) including the exam timetable. These trial exams are crucial in providing the same experience that the students will have in the VCAA end of year exams and will provide feedback on content delivered in the class. All Year 10 and 11 students have been emailed dates for their exams period and orientation dates.

September 1 is our official transition into summer uniform. As per our college uniform policy, it is important that all students are wearing the Padua uniform in its entirety. It also is a timely reminder that summer dress length is appropriate (knee length) and blazers are to be worn to and from school every day, at all assemblies and all formal occasions.

Information has been sent home this week via CareMonkey outlining the final process for those attending the Year 12 Valedictory dinner on Tuesday 22 October at the Mornington Racecourse. The final touches are now being added to the night which will be a true celebration of your child’s journey at Padua College. Please note that the link will close on Tuesday 17 September.

As always I encourage all parents to continue to be active members of the Padua community, engaging in conversation about what topics are being studied in class, keeping abreast of upcoming events and making contact with a subject teacher as needed.
