Dear Parents/Guardians & Students,

Both teams have progressed through to the Grand Final to be played in Ballarat on Thursday 12 September. I extend my best wishes to all players. The Senior Girls Football team will be playing next week to try to also secure a place in the Grand Final and I also wish these girls all the best too.

With the Senior Students Athletics held last Tuesday 20 August our students were well prepared for the SIS Athletics on Tuesday. Congratulations to the Padua team for taking out the SIS Shields! My sincere thanks to Mr Emilio Di Paolo (M), Ms Rachel Ball (M), Mrs Nicole Love (T) and Mrs Donna Nettlefold (R) and all staff involved in the organisation and running of these days. In Particular congratulations to Aiden Hinson (Yr 10, Elizabeth), on breaking the SIS, U/16 Triple Jump record with a jump of 13.49m!

Vinnie’s Sleepout

Last week approximately 45 students from across the College participated in our Annual Vinnie’s Winter Sleepout at the Mornington Campus. These students should be very proud of their efforts, raising well over $3,000 for the Vinnie’s Winter Appeal. My thanks to the Year 12 CAP class students for organising the night, along with staff Mrs Jodie Williams, Mr Steve Sosic, Ms Sinead Ryan, Mrs Natalie Beattie, Mr Terry Luppino, Ms Hayley McMillan and Mr Steve Veneris for attending the evening.

Band Camp and Padua and District Concert Band Festival

Last Wednesday and Thursday approximately 200 students from across the Campuses came together for two days of Band Camp. This Camp gave students a wonderful opportunity to prepare for the Padua and District Concert Band Festival held last night at the New Peninsula Centre. This annual event where 6 schools from across the Peninsula, along with the HMAS Cerberus Navy Band, came together to perform was a wonderful showcase of the talent of so many students and it was terrific to be able to witness such outstanding young people. Congratulations to Mr Mark Mannock for his organisation of both the camp and the festival and thanks to supporting staff: Mrs Jodie Williams, Mrs Gina Reimers, Ms Anne-Marie Wilkinson, Mrs Tania Edwards, Mrs Cathy Moloney, Mr Simon Landid, Mr Paul Jenkins and Ms Sarah Jeffs along with College Instrumental Instructors.

Grade 6 Interviews

Last Thursday ll staff were involved in interviews with the Grade 6 students that are commencing in Year 7 in 2020. This was a wonderful day with each incoming student and their family having an opportunity to meet with a member of staff in preparation for their commencement at the College next year. My thanks to College Transition Co-ordinator, Mr Phil Helisma and College Registrar, Mrs Lisa Jordan for their wonderful organisation of the day.

Staff Wellbeing Professional Learning Day

On Friday of last week all staff gathered at the Mornington Campus and spent the morning working together to further develop our understanding of our House Charisms. I thank Mr Michael Harrison and the Faith Team for their work in facilitating these activities for us. The afternoon was spent with staff spending time in various wellbeing activities.

Email Contact with Teachers

Parents and guardians are reminded that they are able to contact their child’s teachers on PAM via the Learning Areas tab and then selecting the individual subject and clicking the envelope button to email their child’s teacher at any time they wish. Alternately, parents can send messages to teachers via the College enquiry email address: eunquiry@padua.vic.edu.au and these messages will be forwarded on.
