Term 3 SIS and Sport

Term 3 SIS commenced last week with many students involved in a variety of Sporting teams including AFL, Netball, Basketball, Indoor Cricket, Soccer, Touch Rugby and Softball.

The five week competition is a great opportunity for students to train together, develop their skills and to represent their College in a well organised inter-school competition.

It is great to see so many students trying out for these teams and the pride in which they represent the College.

Many thanks to the numerous staff that have volunteered to coach the SIS teams this term.

Another successful Year 8 Rally Day with great enthusiasm, house and school spirit across the board.

State Netball Championships

Congratulations to the 80 students across the three campuses who have been selected to represent the College at the State Netball Championships on Monday 5 August! Students had to go through several trials last term and attend Team Training sessions leading up to the competition. We wish all the teams the very best of luck.

 

Inter House Athletics Carnivals

The Inter House Athletics Carnival provides an opportunity for all students to represent their respective house groups in the area of Sport.  The carnival program includes a full range of events, including novelty events and makes for an enjoyable day for all.

Tyabb Year 7-9 Athletics Carnival- Friday 9 August

Mornington Year 7-9 Athletics Carnival- Tuesday 13 August

Rosebud Year 7-9 Athletics Carnival- Wednesday 14 August

Carnivals are compulsory for all students in Years 7, 8 and 9 with the emphasis on participation.

Mornington Year 10-12 Athletics Carnival- Tuesday 20 August

Students in Years 10-12 remains optional and  need to sign up prior to the Carnival.

 

Year 7-9 Cross Campus Athletics Trials 

The Cross Campus Trials will be held at  Ballam Park on Tuesday 20 August. These trials provide students with an opportunity to perform in a competitive setting.  Students will be invited based on their results and performance at the Year 7-9 Inter House Athletics Carnivals. 

 

SIS Division A Athletics Championships

The Southern Independent Schools (SIS) Athletics Championships will be held at Lakeside Stadium on Tuesday 27 August.

 

Nitro School Challenge Thursday 12 September

Following the SIS Athletics Carnival a number of athletes will be invited to attend this prestigious event at Lakeside Stadium. Students will form and compete as a team. The top 2 teams will have the opportunity to progress and represent Victoria at Nationals in Perth.

 

2019 Secondary ISG Competition Thursday 15 August

Thirteen gymnasts across the Rosebud, Tyabb and Mornington campuses have been selected to represent the College at this upcoming event. Gymnasts have to perform a routine on every apparatus. The College wishes all students the best of luck!

 

Year 7 Rally Day Wednesday 4 September

House groups across the College will attend the following venues and compete in a variety of sports.

Mornington Campus- Cardijn, Anthony, Sebastian, Mannix

Rosebud Campus- Doyle, Teresa, Assisi, Chisholm

Tyabb Campus- McCormack, McAuley, Kolbe, Clare

Mornington Indoor Sport- Geoghagen, Goold, Frayne, Romero

 

At this stage, Kolbe and Clare house are winning by 1 point!

 

Year 9 Girolami/McLoughlin Cup Wednesday 11 September

The Girolami/McLoughlan Cup is a multi sport competition played each year between Mornington, Rosebud and Tyabb Campuses. Named after Paul Girolami and Mick McLoughlin, both prominent members of the Padua community who helped establish the Mornington and Rosebud campuses, the competition allows students to interact in an environment of sportsmanship and camaraderie on the sporting field.
