Padua Careers

This month is a busy time for careers staff and our students. There are many events happening with subject selection sessions and our main focus is assisting our students in planning future pathways. School information sessions are scheduled for this week and it is vital that all students attend these with parents to be well informed when making their subject selections. Senior students will have the opportunity to make their application for further study in their VTAC accounts and then by visiting upcoming Open Days. We encourage all students to be seeking out the advice needed by attending events, talking to their teachers or making contact with careers staff.

Year 10, 11 and 12 students and families are most welcome to attend ECaT on Thursday 1 August in the GYM from 5pm – 7pm to view the VCE, VCAL and VET subject displays and speak with staff. There will also be university, TAFE and tertiary providers present to assist students with careers planning and decision making.

OPEN DAYS – upcoming dates:


Year 9

Year 9 students and their parents are encouraged to attend the Year 10 2020 Subject information Evening on Wednesday 31 July 2019 at Mornington Campus. A presentation to will be made by key Padua College staff, about the learning programs offered by the College and Year 10 pathway options for Senior School.


Year 10

Year 10 students and parents are invited to attend the ECAT on Thursday 1 August 5pm – 7pm in the Gym, with subject information sessions. The process for subject selection will be explained in the Information sessions at 4.30pm, 5.30pm OR 6.30pm in the Pearson Lecture Theatre, Whyte Centre - Bookings are essential !  Subject Information Displays will be in the Gym 5.00 – 7.00 pm where Padua College teachers will be available to discuss the subject options available in Year 11 and 12.

Year 10’s will then have an individual careers interview which will be allocated at a specific time, commencing on Friday 2 August until – Thursday 8 August. These interviews will assist students in selecting their subjects for 2020, and they are asked to come to this meeting prepared to discuss their subject intentions for next year.


Year 12

VTAC – an information session will be held at PADUA on Monday 5 August in Period 1 for all Year 12 students. Applications open on Monday 5 August for students to set up their VTAC accounts. Information will be given regarding the application process, SEAS, important dates, and selecting course preferences

Casper - For students who are wanting to apply for Education /Teaching courses next year they are now required to sit the Casper Test prior to offers. Students must register and complete one test on any of the following dates and specific times:

Aug 24th 10am               Sept 6th 10am             Sept 25th 7pm

Oct 15th  8pm                 Nov 17th 11am

ACU - Community Achievers Programs

There is opportunity for Year 12 students who have leadership and community involvement experience to apply for early acceptance into their desired courses at ACU. The Leadership and Community Involvement  Program is now open and closes on Wednesday 14 August   for Year 12 students who have been active volunteers in their community and would like to apply to ACU under the Community Achievers Program.


LaTrobe University - Aspire Program 

Are looking for leaders, volunteers and community minded students to join the Aspire program. The Aspire program rewards students for their community excellence with an early conditional offer and exclusive enrichment opportunities. The program fosters leadership, helps with university transition, success at La Trobe and beyond. Applications are now open for 2020 intake and close on 31st August.

Monash University information evening  Thursday 15 August 6.30 - 8pm 

Visit Monash Peninsula Campus in Frankston to find out about all Monash courses and have your questions answered on everything you ever wanted to know about undergraduate study at Monash.  Information


Free Tafe Courses

Free TAFE courses lead to occupations in industries where there are likely to be more jobs.

Students who are eligible for the Free TAFE for Priority Courses initiative can study in one of the free courses in 2020. For a list of these please check the TAFE websites or call into the careers office to find out more. Applications are open now – apply directly to Chisholm TAFE.



This was a free TAFE course last year, so will be in high demand, so we encourage students to apply now.
