City Experience

City Experience challenged our students to develop independence and teamwork through travelling into and around the city without direct staff supervision. Students were asked to reflect on the themes presented through workshops with The Big Issue Classroom, State Library of Victoria and the Shrine of Remembrance. Indigenous educator Dean Stewart also worked with our students, exploring culture, heritage, development and history in his powerful presentation focusing on the Yarra River and Queens Bridge Development in Melbourne. This amazing guided discussion provoked further thought in all participants. Much of the time in the city was spent in cross campus groups enabling students to develop important links and relationships before their transition to the senior school in 2020. Students were challenged to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, plan and problem solve. From all accounts our students embraced the opportunities that they were given.
