SIS Cross-Country Champions!

It was a typical cross country day.  Wet, windy and soggy but what a fantastic day for the Padua College cross country team.  After months of regular after school training, inter-house carnivals and the cross country camp, the Padua runners were keen to test their fitness against tough opposition.

The SIS Carnival was held at Baxter Park, where the girls and the Under 13 boys ran a tough three kilometre course and the other boys a four kilometre course.  Being a team event, some students were put into older age groups where athletes were needed. We are always appreciative of these students’ efforts as we acknowledge that they are running against older competitors.

The team was brilliant, winning the majority of the age group pennants and going on to win all the major shields, including the junior, the intermediate, the senior, the aggregate boys and girls and the overall aggregate shields.  Just in case you didn’t already know…. this is the 32nd consecutive year Padua has won the SIS Championships!

Congratulations to the entire squad for a tremendous result. Your dedication to training has been a credit to yourselves and the results have followed.

On a personal note, I would like to thank the many Padua staff and students, who contributed to the success of the carnival. As you would appreciate, it is a huge day, considering there are over 140 students involved from Padua alone. Your effort is greatly appreciated by all.
