Deputy Principal's Report

Mornington Year 7-9 Campus

Life on the Padua Mornington Junior Campus continues at pace, students are engaged in their learning with many co-curricular activities available. Year 8 students are into full swing with SIS sports on Thursday afternoons (see photo below) and Year 7s have just enjoyed their Rally Day playing sports against students at Padua Rosebud and Tyabb. Last week we saw many of our junior students perform beautifully at the Autumn Concert, HPV continues each Wednesday afternoon with Mr Noonan, Homework Club with Mrs Hardie Monday to Thursday after school, it is fair to say that generally speaking the energy around the Campus palpable.

World of Maths

As part of our Maths Week celebrations our Year 8 students were able to enjoy some hands on and fun activities to better enhance their understanding of the interesting and real life applications of their studies in maths. The students engaged in these activities in the spirit of “give it a go” which we love on the 7-9 Campus. Many thanks to Mrs Sue Grimes and Mr Wayne Hardy for their efforts in arranging this and other aspects of Maths Week.

Year 7 and 9 Naplan

I would like to acknowledge the efforts of students in both Year 7 and Year 9 in completing Naplan tasks last week, observing students in this formal assessment setting I could see that they were upholding the Padua ideal of Do your Best! Thanks also to Mr Orwin De Kretser – Assistant head of Campus: Learning and Pedagogy and Mr Tony Anderson – Aspire9 Coordinator at Mornington Campus who facilitated the smooth running of such a large scale event.
