Dear Parents/Guardians & Students

SIS Swimming Carnival

I wish to congratulate all students who participated in the SIS Swimming Carnival last week. This was a wonderful day and I congratulate our students for their willingness to participate and their true sportspersonship on the day. I also wish to congratulate Flinders Christian Community College for winning the carnival. I extend my thanks and congratulations also to Mrs Nicole Love along with supporting staff Mr Emilio Di Paolo, Ms Rachel Ball, Ms Brittany Graham, Mrs Donna Nettlefold, Ms Anna Whittaker and Ms Stacey Romeril for their hours of time spent training and preparing the Padua College swim team. The Padua team placed second amongst the six schools that competed in the SIS First Division Competition. From my observations, it was very pleasing to see our students represent the College in such a positive way, to do their individual and collective best and to build relationships that comes with being a part of a team!

Cross-country Camp

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this week, 70 students and 11 staff are attending the College Cross-country Camp in Flinders. We wish these students and staff all the best and hope that the time in training is fruitful. We also thank them for their dedication and making the effort to attend the camp.

Production Camp

We also have 125 students and 13 staff attending the production camp in Somers on Thursday and Friday this week. These days will be spent in rehearsal and preparation for our school production ‘School of Rock’ later this year and I thank all staff attending camps this week for their support of these student activities.

Mary Cattermole – 40 Years of Service!

In the coming weeks Miss Mary Cattermole will celebrate 40 years of service to Padua College! Mary commenced work in the Library at the Mornington Campus on 28 May 1979 and has been a much valued member of the Library Team ever since. This is indeed an amazing contribution for a staff member to have made to the College and last Friday we celebrated with a morning tea at the Mornington Campus acknowledging Mary’s dedication to the College.

Year 9 students from across the campuses participated in the second Aspire9 Focus Week of the year last week. From all reports these experiences were enjoyable, if somewhat challenging for the students, and I thank our Aspire9 team including Director Mr Mark De Fazio, along with Aspire9 Co-ordinators Mr Lance Albrecht (T), Mrs Andrea Cummins (R) and Mr Tony Anderson (M) with support from Ms Bec Seal, as well as all staff who participated in these activities and those who stayed back on campus to support their colleagues.
