Dear Parents/Guardians & Students

Welcome back to all students for what promises to be a very productive term two.

Staff News

I extend my congratulations to Ms Sally Buick, Senior Vice Principal and Vice Principal – Students, on her appointment to the position of Principal at Killester College commencing term three this year. Sally has made a significant impact at Padua College in her six years here, implementing many new programs and policies with her focus always on the best outcomes for our students. We will have opportunities to farewell and thank Sally later in the term. We have commenced the process of finding a replacement for the roles that Sally currently holds with the positions being advertised over the recent school holiday period. We will soon undertake the interview process and I hope to be able to announce details of Sally’s replacement in the coming weeks.

I also extend my congratulations to Ms Diane Lewis (Director of Library Services) and Ms Victoria Shanahan (M) who both were married over the recent school holiday period. Congratulations to Ms Georga Bryant (M) on the safe arrival of baby Alby (Albert) before the end of term one.

We extend our condolences to Mr Phil Helisma (R) on the passing of his father, Jack Helisma and to Ms Tina Lunny (R) on the passing of her mother in law, Maureen, over the school holidays.

Best wishes to Mrs Fi Clifford (M) who will be taking leave from the end of this term until the end of the year.

These activities are wonderful opportunities for our cohort of Year 9 students but do not come together without an amazing amount of work and commitment from our Aspire9 team including Director, Mr Mark De Fazio, along with Aspire9 Co-ordinators, Mr Lance Albrecht (T), Mrs Andrea Cummins (R) and Mr Tony Anderson (M) with support from Ms Bec Seal, as well as all staff who participate in these activities and those who stay back on campus to support their colleagues.

This week the second Year 7 STEAM Cups for the 2019 school year is taking place for the Blue and Yellow Houses at the Mornington Campus. These students under the guidance of Ms Angela Phillips and the STEAM Team, will spend two days working in small teams to design and build simple machines, that then come together to make one House machine! Padua Day

At the end of last term the whole College came together at the Mornington Campus to celebrate Padua Day. This was a wonderful day of celebrations for our students and staff commencing with Fr Laurie Pearson celebrating Mass with the College community. This provided an opportunity for the school community to farewell Fr Laurie as he prepares for his retirement at the end of May. I wish to thank Mr Michael Harrison and the College Faith Team, Heads of Campus and Directors of Campus and House Co-ordinators along with Mrs Deb Clarke for their wonderful preparation and organisation of this important day in the Padua College calendar.
