Director of Campus Report

How quickly time flies when you are having fun. Term one 2019 is but history and we look forward to a busy term two. The Rosebud Campus finished the term by celebrating the importance of Easter with the Stations of the Cross. This sombre and reflective event emphasised the importance of Christ in our lives. Students and staff also celebrated with an end of term assembly and the hugely popular Easter raffle was run and won. The raffle is a major basis for fundraising for our House charities. A special thank you to Mrs Goldsmid for her organisation of the event.

End of term also gave many parents the opportunity to meet staff and discuss academic progress. We ask that students 'take on board' any advice given by teachers and aim to maintain or improve efforts in any way possible in term two.

Term two brings about Aspire9 Focus Week 2 where students will be involved in a range of activities. The Focus Weeks are a great opportunity for Year 9 students to meet and mix with Year 9's from the other campuses.

The Rosebud Campus kicked off their Cross-Country season on Friday 26 April in typical Melbourne weather, where we experienced all four seasons in one day! Through wind, rain and a touch of sunshine, the iconic ‘Rosebud Run’ course was set up to push Anthony, Goold, McAuley and Teresa students through their paces. Fantastic participation from Year 7 & 8 students set the tone for what would be some very fierce competition while a stellar performance from Year 9 McAuley Students Poppy Travers & Sam Appleford ended the day on a high! All students who competed  in the grueling conditions must be commended on their grit, determination and dedication to their respective Houses! Staff who marshalled the course must also be thanked as they too had to endure the erratic weather!

Congratulations to the following students who were awarded medals for their outstanding performances on the day;

1st - Amy Doyle & Sam Hercus

2nd - Neve Savage & Xavier Gee

3rd - Carly Diconza & Tom Huon

1st - Charlize Culwick & Cohan King

Rosebud students had the opportunity to participate in ANZAC Day Ceremonies across the Peninsula on Thursday 25 April. Padua's Rosebud Campus was represented by a number of students at the Rosebud and Dromana ceremonies. Many students also participated in the ceremonies representing different sporting groups, community groups and the Australian Army and Navy cadets. It is fantastic to see the students continue to reflect on the importance of ANZAC Day. Students at Rosebud also participated in an ANZAC ceremony organised by VCAL students on Tuesday 30 April.

Two important reminders, Winter uniform needs to be worn as of 1 May and NAPLAN testing will begin on Tuesday 14 May for all Year 7 and 9 students.
