Padua College students across all campuses have an incredible array of sports that they can participate in over their time at the College.

The beginning of the school year is always an extremely busy time and this year is no exception.

Please take note of the following Sporting Opportunities for Term 1:


Inter House Swimming Carnivals

The Inter House Swimming Carnival provides an opportunity for all students to represent their respective house groups in the area of Sport.  The carnival program includes a full range of events, including novelty events and makes for an enjoyable day for all.

Rosebud and Tyabb Year 7 & 8 Swimming Carnival Wednesday 13 February

Mornington Year 7 & 8 Swimming Carnival Monday 18 February

Mornington Years 10-12 Swimming Carnival Tuesday 19 February

Mornington, Tyabb and Rosebud Year 9 Swimming Carnival Friday 22 February

Carnivals are compulsory for all students in Years 7, 8 and 9 with the emphasis on participation. Students in Years 10-12 remains optional and students need to sign up by Wednesday 13 February.


College Swimming Squad

We offer all students the opportunity to join the College Swimming Squad and this allows students the chance to train with specific training programs and individual coaching in order to prepare for the SIS Swimming Championships in May.

Mornington Campus- Tuesday and Thursday mornings commencing Thursday 7 February

Students are expected to make their own way to Mornington Secondary College by 7.10 am and Padua Staff will escort students back to Padua College- Mornington after training.

Rosebud Campus- Thursday mornings commencing Thursday 21 February

Students will travel to and from Padua College-Rosebud to join the Mornington students at Mornington Secondary via the College Bus.

Tyabb Campus- Wednesday mornings commencing Wednesday 20 February

Students are expected to make their own way to the YMCA Somerville Health & Aquatic by 7:15 am and Padua Staff will escort students back to Padua College after training via the College Bus.


Lake Hume Swimming Camp

The Annual Padua College, Lake Hume Swimming Camp will be held from Sunday 17 March- Wednesday 20 March.

This optional camp is offered to Padua Students interested in improving their swimming. Further information will be distributed via Care Monkey.


Inter Campus Swimming Trials

The Inter Campus Swimming Trials will be held at Pines Forest Aquatic Centre after school on Wednesday 13 March (4 pm- 5:30 pm). These trials will provide students with an opportunity to swim in a competitive setting. Each lane will be timed and compared to records for the corresponding age group.

Students will be invited to attend  based on their results and performance at the Inter House Carnivals and attendance at Swimming Training.


SIS Swimming Team Bathers

New bathers have arrived from The Funky Way.  Students can purchase these at the Dobson’s Uniform Shop (CASH ONLY).

Girls $60, Women's $69, Boys & Men's $50


SIS Weekly Sport

SIS Sport is a weekly sporting competition in which Padua College competes against other independent schools within the region. This competition takes place on Thursday and Friday afternoons.

Sports available to students this term:

Year 11 & 12 Students (Thursday afternoons) - Girls Basketball, Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer and Boys Indoor Cricket

Year 9 & 10 Students (Friday afternoons) - Girls Handball, Girls Volleyball, Boys Indoor Cricket, Boys Handball


Cross Country Training

Mornington Campus- Monday and Wednesday commencing Monday 11 February. Training begins straight after school and finishes by 4:15. Please meet outside the gym change rooms. Everyone is welcome! It does not matter about your running ability!

Tyabb Campus - Running club is starting on a Wednesday and Friday at lunchtime. Interested students to meet at the front of the Arts building for a 12.50pm start.


Year 7 Inter Campus Sports Rally Days

Year 7 Students will be involved in a round robin competition on Wednesday 27 March representing their respective house groups at four different venues: Padua Mornington, Tyabb, Rosebud and Mornington Indoor Sports Centre.


2019 School Surf League

Wednesday 27 February at Mordialloc Life Saving Club

School Surf League is an exciting event in Life Saving Victoria’s sport calendar. The league is a competition that introduces Secondary School students into surf sports as well as teaches lifesaving related skills. School Surf League provides students with an alternative sporting experience that tests endurance, strength, speed and agility in the most natural sporting arena – the beach.

The format of the league comprises of activities relating to surf swimming, beach sprints, beach flags and board paddling. It enables students to challenge their abilities against themselves, the environment and students from other schools.



Friday 1 March at Davey’s Bay Yacht Club

The regatta runs between 8:00 am and 5.30pm and is open to female secondary school students. The regatta will be in its fourteenth year and attracts girls from both Government and Independent schools from across Victoria.


All Schools Triathlon

Sunday 3 March at Elwood Beach

The championships welcome participation as a team, or as an individual, and is without doubt an experience that builds resilience and improves confidence as students keep the focus on “finish lines not finish times".


Golf Victoria- Inter Association Golf

Monday 18 March at Waverley- further details to be confirmed.



* Students are encouraged to bring their own drink bottle to training sessions and games for hygiene purposes.

* If your child suffers from asthma they should be carrying, their preventative spray with them at all times.

* Players are encouraged to wear mouth guards for contact sports.

* Permission to attend the excursion will not be accepted in any form (email, phone, note, in person) after the cut-off date stated on the Care Monkey.

* Please ensure your child is correctly attired in the correct PE/Sports uniform on the day of the activity.

We encourage all students to take up the many opportunities offered by Padua in the area of Sport this year. It is a great way to make new friends, improve your skills, self-esteem and to get the most of out of your time at Padua College. You do not need to be the fastest, most talented or the best at your Sport; you just need to give it a go.
