Deputy Principal's Report

Year 10

Congratulations to  our Year 10 students who finished their exams on Wednesday and a sincere thank you to Mr Orwin De Kretser for all his work in in arranging the exams, in particular the many reschedules and special arrangements. We believe that a thorough Year 10 Exam process will stand our Year 10s in good stead as many of them move into the VCE next year.

On Thursday 29 November our Year 10 students had their Year 10 into 11 Transition Day and I wish them well as they familiarize themselves with the Senior Campus and their new classmates. Finally, on Friday 30 November our Graduating Year 10s have their final awards and liturgy followed by the Year 10 Social. We look forward to seeing all our well-presented students at the Mornington Racecourse, needless to say all the College’s usual expectations regarding student behavior apply equally to this night.

Year 7, 8 & 9

On Thursday 29 November we will also run the end of the inaugural Aspire9 Program day in Seawinds Gardens atop Arthurs Seat. Congratulations to Mark De Fazio and the entire Aspire9 Team for their successful launch of this new and innovative program.

Our final week of school finishes with a bang rather than a whimper!  Monday 3 December is our Year 9 into 10 Transition Day; Wednesday 5 December is our House Celebration Day, with thanks again to our House Co-ordinators for their efforts in ensuring the finish to 2018 is celebrated in style, before our Year 7-9 students complete classes on Thursday 7 December with a final Liturgy and Awards Ceremony, allowing an extra day for staff to prepare for movement into the new Whyte Senior Learning Centre for the start of 2019. Teaching staff will be available, should you need, until Friday 14 December. Various other staff members, including myself, will be available the following week should you have any queries regarding 2019.

Thank you

A sincere thank you to all the Junior House Co-ordinators for their efforts in supporting the students in their Houses across 2018. Melissa Kenyon (Mannix), Jodie Williams (Chisholm), Peter McKenzie (Sebastian), Julie Barnhoorn (Frayne), Steven Sosic (Kolbe), Michelle Dillon (Romero), Hayley McMillan (Assisi) and Scarlet Christopherson (Clare) have all been the epitome of pastoral leaders who give their students the right combination of genuine care and concern along with a dose of “tough love” at times! Particular thanks to Julie Barnhoorn who moves into a role as a House Co-ordinator in the Senior Campus in 2019 and also thanks to Steven Sosic, who moves into other roles within the College. In 2019 we welcome into the roles of House Co-ordinator, Sinead Ryan (Kolbe) and Rebecca Haas (Frayne).

And finally, thank you to the team that supports me every day in the Junior Leadership Office, Terry Luppino – Assistant Head of Campus (SWAG), Orwin De Kretser  -  Assistant Head of Campus – LAP and our amazing Administration team, Carole Irving and Caroline Leaver.
