SIS Lawn Bowls Competition

On Thursday 22 November, five of Padua Tyabb's finest, elite lawn bowlers headed to the annual SIS lawn bowls competition with a mission: to come in the top five!

We arrived at the Carrum Downs Bowling Club at around 9:30 and immediately started practising our bowling skills, refining them so that we could be the best that there ever was. Our rink was number 7, and we defended it fiercely, staying in that spot for all three home and away qualifying games.

Luke Bouwmeester was our captain and Owen McDonald, Liam Keur, Josie Reichelt and Sophie Russo made up the rest of the team. As there were 5 of us we alternated sub and lead positions.

We played three qualifying matches, our first against Woodleigh where we defended our rink in a 5-0 ending score, our second against Berwick with a hard match ending up in a 5-1 score. In our last qualifying game against Flinders B, we unfortunately lost with a 1-7 final score. To finish off we played a grading game with John Paul College where we defeated them with an ending of 6-2 score, in total winning 3 games out of 4, giving us the position of 5th place overall and completing our mission. SUCCESS!

Impressed with our efforts (after a little bit of convincing) Mr Martin generously drove us to Maccas, where we skulled down some post game snacks. And dropped the Mornington kids off, oh yeah they were there the whole time.

We had a great time and felt that we had represented our school to the best of our ability.
