Sydney Surf

Year 9 camp was one of the best camps we have ever been on because we got to meet so many new people. On day one we arrived at the Rosebud Campus at 5:00am, we then headed to Mornington where we gathered with the Mornington and Tyabb Surf Camp students. At 6:15am we left and headed off to Narrabeen, Sydney.

On the second day we had our first surf lesson taught by Manly Surf School. Later in the afternoon we went kayaking and then went to the movies to see Thor or Geostorm.

On the third day we got up early and caught the ferry from Manly to Sydney. We had a tour of the Sydney Opera House and went up one of the pylons of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and looked out over the whole city. Later that night we went on a night walk to the Barren Joey Lighthouse, near Palm Beach. It took a long time but once we got to the top the view was amazing. Today we did a lot of walking.

On the fourth day we had our second surf lesson at Manly Beach. After our two hour surf lesson we looked around and shopped at the Corso in Manly. We caught the ferry back to our accommodation where we got ready for our Hawaiian Themed Party. We walked to the Narrabeen Surf Life Saving Club where we played some group games and reflected on our time at Sydney.

We had an early start on day five because we had to pack to leave for the airport. Before boarding the plane we had a bit of time to look around the airport. When we landed in Melbourne we caught the bus back to our three campuses.

Year 9 camp was an amazing experience for everyone who went. We would like to thank all of the teachers who came along: Ms Whittaker, Ms Romeril, Ms Christopherson, Ms Slavin, Mr Sambell & Mr. Slavin.
