SIS Term 4 Sport

The first round of SIS sport was an outstanding success last week with all Padua teams winning their matches.

In the Junior competition, the Mixed Tennis team (d St. Johns Dandenong), the Boys Soccer (d Nazareth College), the Girls Soccer (d St. Peters), the Girls Basketball team (d Nazareth College) whilst in the Intermediate competitions, the Boys Baseball team (d St. Peters 26-0), the Boys Volleyball team (d St. Peters 3 sets to 0) and the Girls Softball team (d St. Peters 10-4).

Many thanks to the students who have tried out for these teams and to the coaches for your dedication to Sport at Padua.

Last Friday a group of very nervous Year 9/10 girls assembled for their first game of SIS Inter School Netball v St. Peters College.

The majority of the girls had never played the game competitively before, however with two intensive training sessions under their belts, they were keen to test their newly acquired skills and knowledge.  The game started slowly with both teams failing to score in the first innings however, as confidence grew, so did their ability to put runs on the board.

Some good pieces of fielding and catching also helped the cause.

There were many highlights however Bella Shannon’s home run and Imogen Christides’ big hit to bring home three runners were outstanding pieces of play.

The final score was 10-4, Padua’s way.

The game was played in a great spirit and the team is looking forward to their next game v Flinders College, Tyabb.

Congratulations girls!
