Tyabb Spring Showcase Concert

Term 3 seems a bit like a blur now with lots happening in the Performing Arts at Tyabb. There were a number of students involved in the School Production, that was quickly followed by the Band Festival and next was our Tyabb Showcase Concert – and what a ‘showcase’ it was!

The night opened with the Training Band playing the ‘Mickey Mouse March” followed by our classic “Power Rock”. Other College groups included the School Concert Band, Percussion and Saxophone ensembles and our Stage Band (which included a couple of staff members and a great line up of singers) who belted out “Valarie” and “Hold On (I’m Coming)”. Rock Group performances provided a variety of pieces from artists like Scary Face, 3 Doors Down and Black Sabbath! (we won’t mention the bat!).

The Year 7 Drama classes presented us with three short plays and one of our comperes from the evening, Harrison Bolton-Wade, provided a little stand-up comedy, and then there was a routine from our unicyclists Asher Bouwmeester and Sam Elvey – winners of our Tyabb’s Got Talent Competition earlier in the year.

But wait!   there was more!

A fabulous solo dance performance by Abbey Wallace and a dance improvisation from Byron Lewis along with a number of instrumental solos including the beautiful Beatles song “Blackbird” played by Will Pinhorn on guitar, and Mozart’s “Sonata No 9” on oboe by Bec Clark.

The students who had been assisted by a number of instrumental and classroom teachers, gave us a wonderful and varied evening of entertainment that was enjoyed by all who attended. It truly was a ‘showcase’ of our talented Tyabb campus students.
