PARENT MINDFULNESS & REFLECTION EVENTS

We have two events coming up for parents to have the opportunity to experience activities related to your own mindfulness and reflection time. Parenting can be busy, and at times stressful, and we speak a lot about taking time to reflect and see the bigger picture.

We are therefore offering these two opportunities for parents:

MINDFULNESS AND SPIRITUALITY DAY

A day to experience a range of activities related to mindfulness and our own spirituality and wellbeing. This day will run from 9.30am to 2.30pm on Tuesday 31st October at the Safety Beach Sailing Club (185 Marine Dr, Safety Beach) which is on the beach next to the inlet to Martha Cove. There will be a break in the middle of the day for lunch at a local café.

If you would like to be a part of this day, please email Sarah Hansen at the college … shansen@padua.vic.edu.au

It is preferable to attend the flow of the whole day, but if you can only make it for the morning or afternoon, please let Sarah know this.

EVENING REFLECTION

There will be an evening reflection in the St Francis of Assisi Chapel at the Mornington Campus on Tuesday 28th November, 7.00-7.30pm.

The focus will again be on our wellbeing as parents, but within the context of Advent, as we reflect on the year.

For those who wish to stay on the for the final Parent Group meeting at 7.30, you are most welcome, but this is not necessary! There is no need to RSVP for this event.

ARTHURS SEAT CHALLENGE

The Arthurs Seat Challenge is an important event on our school and community calendar. Since 2002 the challenge of running or walking or Cliffie Young shuffling the 6.7km course up Arthurs Seat has been a fixture on the Mornington Peninsula calendar. And it is for a very important cause … supporting the ‘Fit to Drive’ program at Padua and in other schools which educates our young people to be safe and responsible drivers. It set out to save lives, and I am sure it has done just that over the past 15 years.

This year the challenge is on Sunday 12 November. Teams are signing up on all our campuses to participate in the day. Some of our students will play music and parents will provide the hungry participants with food and refreshments at the top of the mountain.

You are invited to participate in the run or volunteer at the event.

Help keep our kids safe on the roads.

CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS

The Western Port Cluster Invites all parents and community to a Parent Forum.

Thursday 9 November 2017

Padua College Tyabb

Hosted by Dr Di McGreal

7:30pm to 9:30pm

Last year we were delighted to have Dr Di McGreal talk to us at our first Parent Forum on Positive Mental Health for Children. Creating positive mental health in our children is a challenge that parents, teachers and caregivers are faced with and we are coming together to share our knowledge and ideas to make it our priority.

Any questions then contact Anne-Marie Houlihan at fsl.westernport@gmail.com

Please note that Parent group meetings in Term 2 were at Rosebud Campus and Term 3 at Tyabb Campus.

PARENT COOKING EVENINGS (NOVEMBER 1ST HAS BEEN CANCELLED)

Our cupboards are still well stocked, so the final cooking evening has been cancelled. We look forward to seeing all our cooking volunteers in the new year, and great thanks to those who have been involved this year.

If you would like to email me with any thoughts, questions or suggestions, please feel free to do so. I’d love to hear from you mharrison@padua.vic.edu.au
