Deputy Principal's Report

Team Tyabb Keeps on Keeping On

Term 3 may have been challenging on many fronts but the tireless team of students and staff at Tyabb have weathered the conditions and at the end of this week can deserve a well-earned break from the rigours of school. Term 4 offers different challenges and hopefully more consistent spring weather that will allow students to enjoy the space on campus. Plans are afoot for the completion of the new all-weather shade space to be installed before the end of the year. This cover above the basketball court area will offer much needed shade and protection from the elements and should reduce the water run-off to the surrounds of the court. It should look like this:

Term 3 has seen wonderful success for our debaters, public speakers, chess players, authors, athletes and performing artists. We have been visited by guest speakers during Book Week, enjoyed performances both in and out of the College, travelled to and from the city for poetry competitions and Urban Camp, participated in local excursions, visited Mosques and Temples, enjoyed success in SIS competitions and excelled in winter and spring musical and dramatic performances.

The extravaganza at the George Jenkins Theatre last Thursday evening was a showcase of Tyabb talent and many thanks are owed to the staff and students involved. It was wonderful to have so many parents, grandparents and supporters of the performers who excelled in an action packed program that was expertly compered by Charlie Posthuma and Harrison Bolton-Wade. Our Head of Music, Anne-Marie Wilkinson and Performing Arts Coordinator, Cathy Moloney are doing an exceptional job in showcasing the talent here at Tyabb. More will be on show at this week’s Term Assembly.

Thank you to all parents for supporting the Tyabb staff this term and for entrusting us in the education of your children. They are growing up quickly and learning lessons from adolescence that will help shape them as adults. We look forward to a big Term 4 and a strong finish to the year.
