Welcome again to ‘Faith Matters …’.

This past fortnight we have celebrated the Modern Church (Green) Houses.

These are the inspiring quotes or reflections that are the mottos for each of the houses …

Cardijn: See, Judge, Act

Teresa: We can do no great things, only little things with great love

Kolbe: Love endures all things

Romero: Aspire not to have more, but to be more

John XXIII: Consult not your fears, but your hopes and dreams

Feast of the Assumption

Last week on 15 August we celebrated the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady throughout our Padua College campuses. Religious Education classes had the opportunity to spend time reflecting on the importance of Mary in our Catholic tradition and the meaning of Mary’s assumption ‘body and soul’ into heaven.

World Religious Expo was held at Rosebud Campus this week, please see the Rosebud Campus Page for report.

Staff Retreat

Padua College staff have the opportunity of having a day of retreat and reflection, focusing on their own spirituality and the importance of their ministry in Catholic education. Ange Virgona is the Faith Formation Leader of the college and runs these programs for staff.

Reflection for the week

From Pope Francis on education … this would be our hope here at Padua.

Our generation will show that it can rise to the promise found in each young person when we know how to give them space.

This means that we have to create the material and spiritual conditions for their full development;

to give them a solid basis on which to build their lives;

to guarantee their safety and their education to be everything they can be;

to pass on to them lasting values that make life worth living;

to give them a transcendent horizon for their thirst for authentic happiness and their creativity for the good;

to give them the legacy of a world worthy of human life;

and to awaken in them their greatest potential as builders of their own destiny,

sharing responsibility for the future of everyone.

If we can do all this, we anticipate today the future that enters the world through the window of the young.
