Refugee Week

During this week we are acknowledging the wonderful contribution made by so many refugees to our nation. All Religious Education classes at Padua College have run a Liturgy in their classroom, liturgies have been held in the Mornington Chapel throughout the week and students have been encouraged to write messages of support for Refugees.

On Wednesday we also demonstrated our solidarity with those Asylum Seekers and Refugees who have been denied their human right to seek refuge and Asylum in our country and who are still detained in inhumane conditions on Manus Island and Nauru, with many refugee families having been separated for more than 10 years. Staff and students at Mornington Campus stood in solidarity with these people, participating in a “Circle of Silence” held in the Mary Bowe Quadrangle.

A Circle of Silence will also take place at Rosebud Campus on Friday. We thank all staff and students for their show of support.
