Deputy Principal's Report

As explained in the Principal’s Report this has been an extremely difficult week for the Padua community. It is at such time that we see the coming together of our community in support of everyone within our College. The generosity of both students and staff reminds us all of the wonderful environment that we are fortunate to be learning or working in.

It was a pleasure to visit all students, particularly the senior students who were part of the Production Camp last week. To see our school leaders working with our younger students from all campuses is a true reflection of the strength of the House system at the College. The committee staff are also to be congratulated on the hours of work in preparation for this College event.

All VCE students are in General Achievement Test (GAT) preparation mode, with formal practice responses being marked externally to provide comprehensive and impartial feedback for the GAT on Wednesday 14 June. The GAT forms an integral part of the VCE assessment process in the lead up to exams and is critical is ensuring students maximise their ability to receive full marks in all exams. A compulsory assembly for all VCE students is booked for Period 5 and 6 on Monday 5 June, which will outline vital GAT and Exam procedures.

Year 11 students are finalising formal assessment for Unit 1 subjects in conjunction with preparation for their mid-year exams. The exam period begins on Wednesday 7 June and concludes on Friday 16 June. The exam process is fundamental in the preparation for Year 12 exams and provides both students and staff with data that allows for critical reflection and planning for future and further improvement.

The Year 12 2017 Formal on Thursday 8 June is fast approaching. Students have an English SAC on the morning of the formal and can collect their tickets at the beginning of lunch from their House Co-ordinator on 8 June. Classes continue on as normal for Period 1 through to Period 4. Year 12 classes do not run on this afternoon so students will be dismissed at lunchtime. Tickets are still available for purchase as per previous communication with the final date for purchase being Thursday 1 June.
