Child Development - Year 9

Year 9 students in Child Development became a “Parent for a Day” -  caring for a baby (plastic or fluffy varieties only!) for a 24 hour period. This took place on Friday 19 May at the Rosebud Campus.

The idea of the task is to take on the role of a parent and we discuss this in a double lesson when we have our parent group meeting. The students have the responsibility of caring for their infant and prepare a report on the tasks that would be carried out and the challenges new parents face. We discuss feeding, immunisation, sleeping routines, bathing, nappies, growth, hospital care and support services available to new parents.

A fun activity to highlight the many facets of being a parent to a young baby.
