Library News

It has been a busy Term already at the three libraries across Mornington, Rosebud and Tyabb. Below are some of the events that have been happening over the last few weeks.

Book/Literature Clubs

The Book/Literature Clubs continue to provide a space for any Year 7 to 10 students to share their love of books and reading. Some of the activities we have been doing over the last few weeks include:

  • Creating and playing our own Kahoots
  • Creating bookmarks
  • Making ‘shelf-talkers’ for the library
  • Discussing and recommending our favourite books
  • Looking at new books that have come into the library
  • Holding mini-debates (Harry Potter or Hermione? Book or Film?)
  • Playing Quizlet Live

If you are interested in becoming a part of a Book/Literature Club, please contact the library at your campus.

Inky Judge Applicants

Well done to Zarabelle Coles (McCormack4) and Daniel Harper (McCormack1) who recently applied to be a Teen Inky Award Judge.  The Inky Awards recognise high-quality young adult literature, with the longlist and shortlist selected by young adults, and the winners voted for online by the teen readers of InsideaDog.com.au. There are two awards: the Gold Inky Award for an Australian book, and the Silver Inky Award for an international book. Although not successful this time around, it’s great to see Zara and Daniel open to share their love of reading!

Victorian Premier Reading Challenge

The Victorian Premier Reading Challenge continues to gain momentum at all three of our campuses. Currently we have 65 students registered to complete the challenge that requires readers to read at least 15 books by Friday 8 September. Congratulations to Porsha Johnson (Frayne) who has already read 19 books so far! It is not too late to register to be a part of the challenge – just contact the library at your campus to be involved.

E-Books at Padua College Libraries

Many may be surprised to know that we have an extensive e-book collection at Padua College. Nearly 2000 e-books are available to borrow at any time! E-books are a great option for those readers who prefer to read using a device and like the convenience that e-books offer. Below are some instructions about how to access Wheelers (our e-book platform) in order to borrow:
