Deputy Principal's Report

Murrup Biik (Sacred Space) at Tyabb

The formal opening of Murrup Biik, which translates as Sacred Space in the Bunurong language, occurred at Tyabb Campus on Friday 19 May. Fr Michael Miles from Westernport Parish blessed the space while Mr Ange Virgona and Mrs Anne-Marie Wilkinson from the College Faith team led the staff in prayerful reflection. Each of the Year 7-10 core classes visited Murrup Biik during the day and had the opportunity to learn about the importance and significance of the new space on the campus which will be used for liturgical celebrations, meditations, prayer and celebration of Eucharist.

Religious Education classes will use the space regularly and this will add richness to the development of spiritual awareness and understanding of the concepts covered in classes. The reverence shown by students who are embracing the specialness of the new space is clearly apparent and there is great potential for building a culture for all of the community to experience.

Condolences

While the events of this week have tested the resilience of our Padua community, what has been highlighted is the love and compassion and genuine care for our young people that is such an important aspect of our work. On behalf of the Tyabb Campus, our deepest sympathy, thoughts and prayers are extended to the family and friends of Amy Carter.

Ag Hort at Tyabb Gets A Taste Of Things To Come

The learning space at Tyabb for Agriculture and Horticulture studies is being transformed into a superb outdoor classroom. Teacher Mrs Georga Bryant and the Year 9 Agriculture and Horticulture students have been busy preparing for the impending arrival of chickens, ducks and goats into the newly refurbished zone.

Sustainability is the focus with a farm of worms eating away at organic waste and the planting of some delicious winter herbs and vegetables ensuring that the students have plenty to focus on. Recent visits to the Mornington Campus have helped inspire the students to assist them in their understanding and responsibilities associated with maintaining the facility.

Pop in to the Pop Up Sock Shop

Padua parents are now able to purchase knee high and calf length socks at the Padua Tyabb Office. Navy blue socks are not easy to find, so we have secured a quantity of them from the Uniform Shop for sale at Tyabb. A three pack of navy blue calf length socks is priced at $20 and knee high navy socks are $8 a pair.
