Year 8 Mornington Boys’ Football Team

The Year 8 Mornington Boys’ Football team had their first outing last week versus Balcombe and if you thought Tom Lynch (Paduan Alumni - Class of 2010) and the Gold Coast have had an epic journey on their way to Shanghai, well the Padua Year 8 boys may have had them covered, leaving Padua and travelling to Balcombe, Mace Oval, then Citation Oval Number One before navigating our way through roadworks and finding the game at South Mornington JFC home ground.

The boys started strongly with Jake Sengstock and Max Danet providing two towering options up forward and Jake led the way with the first goal of the game. Co-captains Jimmy Cahill and Lachlan Hodder provided strong leadership throughout the game and it is a credit to the boys’ ability to share the ball that we ended up with 12 individual goal kickers. Indeed the game was played in excellent spirit by both sides throughout.
Special mention to Luca Curry who in his very first game of football scored two goals (and didn’t the boys get around him!) Overall, a very pleasing result, best players, Matt Jackson, Kyle Ross, Sam Thompson, Harry Rhodes, Harry Langford, Jake Sengstock and Jimmy Cahill. Our leading goal kicker was Kyle Ross with 4 majors. Next week the boys take on John Paul College.

Final Score:
Padua College 20 Goals 12 Behinds 132
Balcombe Grammar 1 Goal 1 Behind 7
