Family Week Prayer

Within the Melbourne Church, Family Week is celebrated after Mothers Day.

In our families we have ways of showing care for each other.

We are called to reach out to family members, neighbours, community members and people in our world who experience hard times.

John 13:34-35

“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

We reach out our hands.

Our hands are instruments of caring.

We open wide our eyes.

Our eyes see ways to care.

We touch our ears.

Our ears hear the needs of others.

We move our feet.

Our feet walk towards those in need.

We rest our hands on our hearts.

Our hearts give out love.

We praise God who cares for us.

Jesus shows us how to care. The Holy Spirit gives us the courage to care.

May the Father and Creator bless us and protect us.

May God’s Son, our Brother, teach us to be caring.

May the Holy Spirit strengthen us to be champions for change.

We go now to spread God’s love and generosity

In our school and in our lives.
